Electric Theatre Radio Hour featuring G.Lee: Radio & Music

RetroMetro Rock and Roll

(George Douglas Lee and Noise Poets)
September 15, 2016
George Douglas Lee

This song was written because I refer to the Noise Poets band as playing RetroMetro Rock and Roll. Thought it was such a great line, I figured it deserved an entire rockin' song. It was my first attempt at a "Swedish" sound.

RETROMETRO ROCK AND ROLL

Lyrics and Music by George Douglas Lee

Retro Metro Rock and Roll

It’s gonna move you, body and soul

Back to the basics, you’ll never get old

Retro Metro Rock and Roll

I grew up on Elvis, Roy Orbison and Chuck Berry

Roll Over Beethoven – whole lotta shakin,’ with Jerry Lee

Buddy Holly, Rock around the clock

Great balls of fire, and jailhouse rock

Listened to the Beatles, Dave Clark and Stones

Y’know I couldn’t shake it and I wasn’t alone!

Retro Metro Rock and Roll

It’s gonna move you, body and soul

Back to the basics, you’ll never get old

Retro Metro Rock and Roll

There was an evolution and a music revolution

Heavy metal thunder and a magic carpet ride

Blondie, Velvet Underground – the New York scene

Alice Cooper got it right, with I’m Eighteen

Sabbath and Zeppelin, Grand Funk and the Doors

Made rock and roll history like never before

Got under my skin and into my heart

Abba and the Swedes made pop into art

Retro Metro Rock and Roll

It’s gonna move you, body and soul

Back to the basics, you’ll never get old

Retro Metro Rock and Roll

The beat, the beat, the beat - still move me

The beat, the beat, playing long into the night

The beat, the beat, the beat

I feel like dancin’

The beat, the beat

Gonna shimmy shimmy shake

The beat, the beat, the beat

You can’t stop it

No you can’t stop it till the day you die

Retro Metro Rock and Roll

It’s gonna move you, body and soul

Back to the basics, you’ll never get old

Retro Metro Rock and Roll
