I wanted to write something nostalgic, with a feel similar to Don McClean's "American PIe". The original version of this song was quite different lyrically, it was about a band who plays their own original music. This one was more about growing up and finding how little you learned in your life. Ah, memories.....!

Do You Remember How We Used to Rock And Roll?

Lyrics & Music by George Douglas Lee

INTRO Riff off A then to A, G, F#m, G  E– A, G, F#m, G E - A

A We’ve come a long way since we F#m all left home

G Neighborhood kids F#m in the world alone

A We lost our innocence in a F#m thousand ways

D Some moved on and A others stayed

D Trying to hold on to the A good old E days

F#m Do you remember how we D used to rock and A roll?

Do you remember, do you remember?

F#m Turning on to the D music on the A radio

Turning on the music, turning on the music

F#m We thought we’d live forever, D we would never get A old

Thought we’d live forever, thought we’d live forever

F#m Do you remember how we D used to rock and A roll? A, D, A, F#m, E

A, G, F#m, G  E– A

I remember sweet Kate, said I’d love her forever

We spent a long, lazy hot summer together

I went off to college and I left her behind

She got married and I lost her in time

Playin’ rock and roll, drinking whiskey and wine

F#m Now we’ve all been living on our D own

A Finding out how little we had F#m ever known

D Frozen in photographs E on kodachrome

F#m Moments from the past, E hoping they would last, D fading too fast…

F#m Do you remember how we D used to rock and A roll?

Do you remember, do you remember?

F#m Turning on to the D music on the A radio

Turning on the music, turning on the music

F#m We thought we’d live forever, D we would never get A old

Thought we’d live forever, thought we’d live forever

F#m Do you remember how we D used to rock and A roll? A, D, A, F#m, E

SOLO opening riff twice

Then hold on A with accents, go to chorus chords

We listened to the Beatles, the Stones and the Doors

Playin’ top 40 at the downtown record store

Nothing turned out the way we thought that it would be

The good old days are just a memory, we only remember what we wanted them to be

F#m Do you remember how we D used to rock and A roll?

Do you remember, do you remember?

F#m Turning on to the D music on the A radio

Turning on the music, turning on the music

F#m We thought we’d live forever, D we would never get A old

Thought we’d live forever, thought we’d live forever

F#m Do you remember how we D used to rock and A roll? A, D, A, F#m, E

Do you remember how we used to rock and roll?
